Our Reviews for ShelterLogic Greenhouses
ShelterLogic GrowIt Series Greenhouse-In-A-Box
The GrowIt Series includes some of the most popular greenhouses sold by ShelterLogic. The 10x20x8’ model is a sturdy greenhouse worth considering if you are serious about growing.
- Price range. Very affordable. It’s not the cheapest option available, but this greenhouse is worth considering because you will get your money’s worth.
- Dimensions. This is a 10x20x8’ greenhouse. You will get 1,600 cubic feet of storage space, which is plenty for growing as a hobby or even growing your own food.
- Star rating. This large greenhouse deserves a rating of 4 stars out of 5.
- The main selling point. We really liked the 1 3/8” steel frame designed for durability. The fade blockers were another interesting feature since they make the greenhouse more resistant to the elements.
This is not exactly a mini greenhouse, but the size is still adapted to what you would need to grow fruits, vegetables, or even flowers as a hobby. Getting everything you need in a box is a plus since you will be able to get started on building your greenhouse right away and won’t need to take any additional trips to the hardware store.
This kit includes the steel frame, the greenhouse cover, the front door and rear panels and some bungee cords, anchors, and tie-downs to stabilize the greenhouse. You will also get the hardware you need to assemble the greenhouse and a set of instructions.
Note that it isn’t a hoop greenhouse. Most ShelterLogic greenhouses have a gable roof, which is a plus if you live in an area where you need to protect your plants from heavy precipitation.
The steel frame will resist corrosion thanks to its powder-coated finish, and the cover of the greenhouse is made more durable by a UV treatment. The cover is translucent so your plants aren’t directly exposed to sunlight, but you will still be able to see the inside of your greenhouse.
There is a lock system that makes assembling the frame a breeze. You should be able to assemble this greenhouse by yourself within an afternoon!
Why isn’t it a 5-star greenhouse? Some greenhouse reviews mention sealing problems because the front and back covers aren’t long enough. You will need to figure out a way to seal these covers if you want to keep bugs and humidity out of your greenhouse.
What We Like
What We Don't Like
This greenhouse is essentially a smaller version of the product reviewed above. The features are very similar, but this smaller greenhouse might be more adapted to your needs if you are just getting started with growing your own fruits and vegetables.
Just like the larger ShelterLogic GrowIt model, this greenhouse comes with a powder-coated steel frame. This sturdy design should last for two or three years and you won’t have any issues with corrosion.
The UV-resistant cover is also waterproof. This is a three-layer cover that should provide optimal insulation for your plants.
You should be able to build this greenhouse in a couple of hours by yourself thanks to the lock system for the frame. You will get anchors for the cover, but keep in mind that this isn’t a product designed for places with extreme wind conditions.
If you are worried about temperature building up quickly in such a small space, you should know that this greenhouse comes with ventilation panels on each end so you can easily maintain an optimal temperature for your fruits, vegetables, herbs, or flowers.
This product is not one of the top-rated greenhouses available on the market because you can find products with a better design in this price range.

ShelterLogic Peak Raised Bed Greenhouse with Roll-up Cover
This greenhouse is different from the two other products listed above because this is a frame and cover that you would place over a raised bed. This approach makes more sense if you want to protect a few plants from cold weather conditions.
Growing plants on a raised bed is a good option if the soil in your garden doesn’t provide enough nutrition for your plants. You can also use this technique to protect plants from a pest infestation. And because the raised bed helps keep the soil warmer, you can grow plants that would usually not thrive in your climate or benefit from a longer growing season.
This raised bed greenhouse protects your plants from precipitation, frost, and extreme temperatures. The kit includes a steel frame, a cover with two side panels and the mounting brackets.
This is the same type of UV-resistant cover used for the other greenhouses mentioned above. However, you will be able to roll up this cover to check on your plants, control the temperature or adjust airflow.
Combining a raised bed and this greenhouse cover is a smart approach if you aren’t ready to invest in a walk-in greenhouse or want to explore the benefits of growing in a controlled environment before deciding if you need a larger greenhouse.
The main issue with this ShelterLogic greenhouse is that you will have to build a raised bed that matches the dimensions of the cover. This won’t be a problem if you have built raised beds before or have someone who can help you.

What We Don't Like
We looked at two different sizes available in the Shelter Logic GrowIt Series and at a different roll-up design for a raised bed. If I had to recommend one greenhouse, I would strongly advise that you get the 10x20x8’ greenhouse from the GrowIt Series.
This larger design allows you to design your own shelving system and to keep adding plants to your indoor garden without having to upgrade to a larger greenhouse. The two other greenhouses would be interesting for beginners on a small budget, but it is worth it to spend a little more so you don’t run out of room.
ShelterLogic is a brand known for making quality durable greenhouses and I don’t think you can go wrong with any of their products. If I had to recommend one of the greenhouses reviewed above, I would pick the 10x20x8’ greenhouse from the GrowIt Series.
The 10x20x8’ greenhouse from the GrowIt series would make sense if you have a small yard or garden. However, most gardeners will quickly run out of space or end up working in a crowded greenhouse. The ShelterLogic Peak Raised Bed Greenhouse with Roll-up Cover is a good addition to a raised bed, but it really doesn’t deliver the same experience as a walk-in greenhouse.
The 10x20x8’ GrowIt greenhouse from ShelterLogic is an investment that makes sense because you can design your own shelving system and keep adding plants to your indoor garden without having to upgrade to a larger greenhouse.

The Benefits of Investing in A Greenhouse
The purpose of a greenhouse is to create an environment where you can easily control temperature, airflow, and humidity levels. You can grow fruits, vegetables, flowers, herbs, and other plants that would not do well outside and still get amazing results.
Protect Your Plants
Installing a greenhouse in hot climate allows you to shield plants from excessive heat, and to grow plants that require a more humid environment. On the other hand, a greenhouse in winter climate will protect your plants from freezing temperatures, snowfall, and high winds. Pest infestation is another threat you can eliminate by growing inside of a greenhouse.
How Do Greenhouses Work?
Greenhouses either include a cover or glass panels that let sunlight in. The cover or glass panels then trap sun rays and the inside of the greenhouse warms up. You can control the temperature and airflow inside of the greenhouse thanks to ventilation panels, or by simply opening the door.
You can also add an evaporative cooling system or a heating system to adjust the temperature inside of the greenhouse. Adding lighting is another way to create a controlled environment for your plants.
Why Do Gardeners Use Greenhouses?
Moving your plants inside of a greenhouse opens up more possibility. You will be able to grow your crops all year round and will be able to grow more plants that would not withstand the climate conditions in your area.
Your gardening hobby can become something that keeps you busy all year round, and you will be able to eat fresh fruits and vegetables at any time of the year. The best part is that you can grow your own food without any added chemicals.
If you are growing flowers or other plants to sell them, you will be able to harvest crops during the cold months or whenever the offer is low on your market.
Customize Your Growing Space
Some gardeners like to grow inside of greenhouses because they can easily create a customized space. Shelving systems are a popular option, but you can also install raised beds, trellis with vines or even hydroponic systems.
You can keep things simple and keep potted plants on shelves and add more diversity as you gain more experience as a gardener!
